How Bend Backcountry Started

Adventure has always been at the heart of my life—facing fear, exploring the outdoors, and experiencing nature in ways that most people never get to. From skydiving and speed flying to hiking and BASE jumping, I’ve learned to live life fully and intentionally.
When I moved to Bend, Oregon, my passion for adventure found the perfect home. Smith Rock State Park became my year-around playground, offering rock climbing, scenic hikes, diverse wildlife, and even legal BASE jumping and paragliding nearby. I spend summers floating the Deschutes River, and much of the rest of the year speed flying down the steep terrain of Pine Mountain and discovering the best ways to experience Central Oregon’s incredible landscapes.
I’ve always wanted to share these adventures and help others to live their dream- whatever it may be. That’s why I teamed up with Alex, a professional whitewater rafting guide and snowboarding instructor, to create Bend Backcountry. Our goal is simple: to make the best adventures in Central Oregon accessible, safe, and unforgettable for both locals and visitors.
